2025 has been a year like no other at Journey Arts– 12 months, 3 unforgettable shows, and countless memorable moments!
In the midst of complex times, art, and community remind us that a world of more is still possible when we embrace creative possibilities. Scroll on for five of our top moments of the year!
Four Pianos, Eight Hands, On Stage!
As a small (but mighty) production team, sometimes we hold our collective breath waiting to see the details of big ideas coming to life.
Getting four grand pianos on one stage, tuned, and performance ready for a sold out debut of Eight Eight Time was one of those moments of watching it all come together!

2. Music Over Sunset Meadows
The only thing that could possibly make Bartram’s Garden more beautiful in the height of bloom is an ethereal soundtrack! With compositions for a cello trio, Daniel de Jesus’ vocals floated over orchestral arrangements, mixing with the sounds of conversation in the tent overlooking the woods.

3. Crispy Empanadas: Fried To Order
Crunchy, savory, cheesy– and made to order! These empanadas were our most memorable bite from Chef Cynthia Salamanca and Sandra's catering team at the 2024/25 Season Table Sessions.

4. Activating the RA-RA Room at Miwa
Imagine the echoes of clapping hands, shaking maracas, footsteps in rhythm, and sing-shouting as a room of mirrors reflected the celebration of the folks within– all amidst scenes of Haitian carnival! The energy swept up everyone in attendance.
The vibe of of the Ra-Ra room was set with bright colored party lights, archival pieces form the Haitian folk art collection at Indigo Arts Gallery, and an immersive audio soundtrack powered by silent disco headphones!

5. Conjuring Up Ancestry

With a stunning suite of compositions newly penned for Miwa, Talie Cerin triumphantly returned to the Journey Arts stage accompanied by a 7-piece ensemble. Recorded interview interludes played between each musical movement exploring familial connections, memory, and cultural practices of the Haitian diaspora.
In a particularly poignant moment, audiences heard the operatic voice of Talie’s great aunt, and gospel singer, Emma Achilles, cited as an inspiration for Talie’s own practice as a professional musician.
Harmonies between the present generation, and the ancestors that made it possible soared into the night. Miwa invited us all to reflect and celebrate where we come from— and where we are going!
If you’ve made it this far in our recap, 2026 is beckoning!
